On February 26, 2026, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record unites millions of adults and children to read the same book on the same day, activating a worldwide community to uplift the critical importance of early literacy.
The Early Learning Hub of Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties would like to support our partners to Read for the Record this year. We will send you this year’s book to read to your class or care group! If your organization would like to participate in Read for the Record Day, please sign up at https://forms.gle/bEqR7p6rvi4gqSyPA.
This year’s book selection is See Marcus Grow, written by Marcus Bridgewater and illustrated by Reggie Brown. See Marcus Grow is a vibrant picture book that introduces young readers to the wonders of gardening while exploring themes of curiosity, discovery, nurturing, and growth. In this story, the young character named Marcus learns from his grandmother in her garden. The book beautifully illustrates the parallel between plant care and human development, sharing the wisdom that both children and seedlings need “water and air and sunshine. And space to grow."
Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience and celebrates and supports children’s early language and social-emotional development. The event – a day of celebration and fun – builds an intergenerational community through reading and raises awareness about the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive literature that fosters a sense of belonging and connection by reflecting children’s own experiences as well as showing the experiences of others.
