The Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) is introducing two complimentary training series designed to help child care providers navigate challenging behaviors, de-escalate tough situations, and foster meaningful connections with children and their families.

These flexible, self-paced courses are hosted on the Oregon Center for Career Development (OCCD) platform and qualify for ORO credit under the Understanding and Guiding Behavior Set One category.

To ensure accessibility for educators statewide, all modules are offered in 7 languages: Arabic, Simplified Chinese, English, Russian, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Series 1: Managing Behavioral Escalations

(All 5 Modules Now Live)

This sequence offers actionable tools for handling difficult behaviors in early learning environments. Because each module builds upon the previous one, providers are encouraged to complete them sequentially to test out new techniques between sessions.

• Module 3: Moving from Escalations to Meeting Expectations

• Module 4: Addressing Behavioral Escalations

• Module 5: Maintaining Professionalism and Safety during Escalations

Time Commitment: Each module takes approximately 60–90 minutes and features hands-on exercises ready to implement directly into your daily routine.

Series 2: Connections Series

(Releasing Mid-August)

The second training series emphasizes relational practices and creating robust support networks for young learners and their families.
