OHSU to Host 2026 Health Literacy Symposium on Clear Communication in Health Care
The full-day program runs from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM and features opening remarks from OHSU President Dr. Shereef Elnahal. Dr. Cynthia Baur, Ph.D., Endowed Chair and Director of the Horowitz Center for Health Literacy at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Health, will serve as the event's keynote speaker.
Designed to provide practical tools, the symposium will feature two plenary sessions, a panel discussion, a catered lunch and poster session, and two breakout blocks. Attendees can participate in mini-workshops focused on:

Applying health literacy best practices across research, education, and clinical care.

The symposium is an in-person event with limited seats available to non-OHSU employees. Registration fees are $50 for attendees seeking CME/CE credits and $25 for standard admission, with a boxed lunch included.
