Oregon Governor Kate Brown issued a statewide proclamation to recognize the 51st Week of the Young Child®, encouraging Oregonians to support children and the adults who love, care for, and educate them. The Week of the Young Child® is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Bright by Text

Bright by Text is a national parent texting program designed to provide expert health and development tips, positive parenting ideas, fun, and easy activities and resources, and even video content directly to parents and caregivers of young children. The Early Learning Hub, as a Bright by Text partner, can send out community messages to share local family-friendly events, programs, and resources. We encourage our partners to let us know if they have an event, program, or resource that could be promoted through the Bright by Text service. We regularly send messages to all subscribed families in Linn, Benton, and Lincoln Counties.

OSU receives $14.4 million grant for statewide center to support early childhood educators

Oregon State University will use a new $14.4 million grant from the Early Learning Division to establish a statewide center focused on strengthening the early childhood education workforce in Oregon.

Resources for National Child Abuse Prevention Month

FEMA Updates Shelter Locator Texting Feature

Having the right information at the right time is often key to surviving a disaster. FEMA’s updated texting feature allows the public to access shelter addresses when they need it most. Users can text “shelter” and their ZIP code to 43362 to get a list of nearby shelter locations. This effort is made possible through collaboration with the American Red Cross.
