Early Learning Hub, System of Care Coordinator
Jennifer Schwartz is the System of Care Coordinator for the Executive Council of Benton, Lincoln and Linn Counties. Jennifer’s interest in health services, policy and communications began in a research laboratory at The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. With the desire to communicate health research to the public, she pursued a Master’s in Journalism with a focus on health policy and communications at the University of Georgia. She continued this work while earning her Doctorate in Communication and Society at the University of Oregon. At the UO, she specialized in health policy, education and communications. During this time, she worked on a number of collaborative, community-based health education projects. These included programs to improve access to healthy food in rural communities, programs promoting physical activity to youth during summertime, and health promotion campaigns targeting college students. In particular, she enjoys building partnerships with individuals and organizations to positively impact people and communities.
Jennifer has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Washington, a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia, and a Doctoral degree in Communication and Society from the University of Oregon. Over time, she has worked in a number of different roles, including youth tutor, journalist, researcher, and faculty member.
After graduate school in Athens, Georgia, Jennifer, along with her husband, took a 3,000-mile road trip across the country, ending on the Oregon Coast. Oregon has been home ever since. She is grateful to raise her family in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and enjoys being in the great outdoors whenever possible.
