Job Search 3At the March Governing Board Meeting, it was announced that the Early Learning Hub would be partnering with Old Mill Center in search of a Biligual/Bicultural Parent Engagement Coordinator, to be shared between the two agencies.  Following meetings between Old Mill and the Hub, a job description has been created, and we wish to share it with our Hub partners so that they can pass it along to anyone who might be interested in applying:

 

OLD MILL CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION IDENTIFICATION: SHARED BILINGUAL/BICULTURAL PARENT ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

POSITION SUMMARY: The position is shared between Old Mill Center (OMCCF) and the Early Learning Hub of Linn, Benton & Lincoln Counties (EL Hub). Both organizations are committed to engaging families as partners in their work.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:
OMCCF: To increase family engagement for all programs at OMCCF including building capacity of families and staff to engage in truly reciprocal ways, involve families in program level decisions and wider advocacy efforts and participation at the governance level. (0.3 FTE)
EL Hub: To coordinate and facilitate the Hub’s engagement with children and families from all the communities served by the Hub and engage with culturally specific community based organizations as partners in the delivery of services to children and families. (0.5 FTE)

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human or Social Services, Communications, Community Development or related field desirable. Candidate must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and experience working with a wide range of community members and stakeholders. Experience/background working with families with multiple risk factors and knowledge of community resources is helpful. Experience working within the Collective Impact model is a plus. Bilingual English/Spanish (required).

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience in activities that involve working with nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, underrepresented populations and/or other community stakeholders. Bicultural.

RESPONSIBLE TO WHOM: The Coordinator is responsible to the Relief Nursery Director/Prevention Manager and works in close collaboration with the EL Hub Coordinator and the EL Hub Project Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
OMCCF:
• Facilitate development of Parent Engagement Plan with OMCCF program staff
• Implement Parent Engagement Plan in collaboration with program staff and partner organizations
• Coordinate and support parent engagement activities
• Build and maintain active relationships with community partners
• Coordinate training for staff and volunteers to support parent engagement plan implementation EL Hub:
To facilitate the activities supporting Goal 1 from the EL Hub’s Work Plan: Increase meaningful engagement with children and families from all the communities served by the EL Hub, including:
• To lead parent focus groups in Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties
• To develop relationships with culturally-specific community based organizations to deliver equitable services to children and families
• To develop a diverse Parent Advisory Group, and
• To coordinate with a Steering Committee of partners and local culturally specific organizations

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND OTHER ABILITIES: Must be able to independently perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively. Must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Must be able to

prioritize and organize tasks in order to meet schedules and time lines. Must be able to communicate formally and informally with a wide range of contacts, using tact, diplomacy and courtesy. Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives and abilities. Able to operate general office equipment including computers and word processing. May require lifting light to medium weight materials (10 to 25 lbs.).

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: Has a valid Oregon driver’s license and appropriate level of insurance or access to transportation to attend required meetings and events.

Locations: Albany at Luckiamute Center, Linn Benton Community College and Corvallis at Old Mill Center for Children and Families
Working Conditions: Some evenings or weekends may be required.
Travel: Regular travel in the three county area is required. Mileage reimbursement and travel expense reimbursement provided.
Pay Range: $17 to $20 per hour; 30-32 hours per week, benefits included 11 paid Holidays, Paid Time Off and Health Insurance, group dental and vision insurance available.
